A lot of people can not afford to dish out money for a high end laptop and that is understandable, especially the way the economy has been going these days. But even though they can not afford the high end, they still may want to purchase a laptop anyway, for themselves or for a gift, and may want to look into cheap laptops.
One needs to remember though that with cheap laptops that are say, under $600 are going to have less powerful processors, not as much memory, definitely smaller hard drives and sometimes they won’t connect to the Internet as well as a high end model.
But do not lose heart, there are a few cheap laptops out there that should fill your needs if you are not expecting the world from them.
Probably one of the better low end laptops would be Acer. Their model 1810T Timeline is a popular one mainly because its battery life is extremely long and even rivals that of some of the high end laptops. If you are wanting a computer that will allow you to do normal word process, browsing the web and some light gaming, then you’ll probably love the Acer.
Those who are really into playing games probably won’t like the quality of the video so they might want to stay away from this model if gaming is an important issue. The hardware is pretty good as well with 4GB memory, 320GB hard drive, it has a memory card reader that reads multiple cards, Wi Fi, there is Bluetooth as well as a microphone and a webcam. For $600, not bad.
Gateway offers some that are bigger than the Acer with 17. 3 inch screens and are somewhat bulkier and might even serve better as a desktop replacement. Although gamers really wouldn’t like it due to video not up to their standards the rest are not too bad, with an average battery life, Windows 7, has 4GB of actual memory and a good size hard drive of 500GB, DVD burner, memory card reader that handles several different types of cards, microphone, web camera, Wi Fi and also a fax modem.
You can find cheap laptops from HP as well, in fact they have quite a few that you can choose from, all of which only very from hard drive size to hard drive size and screen size. The Pavilion dv6-1352dx has a smaller screen and slimmer design than the Gateway, and has just a 250GB hard drive, everything else is comparable with the Gateway.
If smaller is even more of a need for you and your lifestyle, you can find cheap laptops by going to the smaller versions like netbooks, subnetbooks, and the newest line of laptops, the mini notebooks.
